Overview

Singalila National Park is located at an altitude of more than 7000 feet above the sea and is the highest national park in West Bengal. The park was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1986 and was made an Indian National Park in 1992.

 

Sandakphu and Phalut, two of the highest peaks in West Bengal, are located right inside the park. The national park encompasses a beautiful, 78.60 sq km land of virgin rhododendron forests, alpine valley and rare species of animals and orchids. It is most famous for offering the breathtaking and spectacular view of the Himalayan peak and providing a panoramic view of the gigantic Himalayas Range spanning from Nepal to Bhutan.

 

Singalila is home to the very rare and exotic red panda and the Himalayan black bear. The national park is also part of a trekking route and is no less than a paradise for trekkers and adventure lovers.

 

By Rail: The domestic railway stations near to the national park are the Jalpaiguri Railway station and the Siliguri Railway Station.

 

By Air: The nearest airport is the Bagdogra Airport.

 

By Road: Singalila National Park is well connected to Major Cities and Places by road network. There are several government and privately operated vehicles that go to Singalila National Park. Bus services are available from Siliguri to Maneybhanjan via Sukhiapokhri.
