Overview
Makaibari Tea Estate is located at an altitude of 1,500 m (4,900 ft) above sea level in the quaint town of Kurseong and covers six ridges. It is the world’s first tea factory with the tea estate known for its ecotourism practices. Makaibari tea estate retains 70% of the tea estate as forest coverage. It was the first garden to be certified as Organic in 1988. Makaibari offers tourist the unique experience of homestays within the villages allowing the tourists to enjoy the local customs and culture and life of a tea grower. The tourists are guests of the local families and get to experience cross cultures.

Air: The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri. 36 km away and it takes a car 1 hour to reach the place.
Road: From Kolkata, the location is approximately 625 km away, and it takes around 15 hours to reach via NH 12.
