Phalut is one of the noteworthy high points of Singalila range, situated in Darjeeling region at an altitude of approx. 11,811 ft. This is the second most elevated point in Singalila ridge after Sandakphu. It is said that trekking to Himalayas is incomplete without Sandakphu- Phalut Trek.
It is located just 80 kms from Darjeeling, the unique location of Phalut gives an opportunity to the tourist and explorers to relish the excursion with an astonishing path with the energetic and flamboyant wildlife giving them chance to bask in the glory of Himalayan flora and fauna. With the onset of spring, the trekking route gets decked with the blossoming view of rhododendron flowers. Phalut offers the closest vision on snow ranges reachable in Darjeeling locale.
Nestling amidst the charming mountain scenery with magnificent view of snow peaks and glaciers, Phalut is alluring to the trekkers. A few Trekkers' cottage and lodges are accessible here giving convenience to the trekkers. To enjoy the view of snowcapped mountains in its full glory from Phalut the best season is from end-October to mid-December. But the enchanting view of vibrant red shades of rhododendron, widely spread across the Singalila National Park will be visible during April to May.
By Air: Daily flights are available to Bagdogra (Siliguri), which is the nearest Airport. From Bagdogra one can avail cab to reach Phalut.
By Train: Many trains operate on daily basis to the nearest railhead at New Jalpaiguri (Siliguri).
By Road: Bus services are available from Siliguri to Maneybhanjan via Sukhiapokhri. Land Rovers are also available for a trip from Darjeeling and Maneybhanjan to Phalut.
