Sea Beaches

Digha, Mandarmoni, Shankarpur and Udaipur are some of the most popular sea beaches in West Bengal. Digha is located 187 km south-west of Kolkata. Mandarmani is a fast-developing seaside resort village situated in Purba Medinipur district and at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal. Situated in Purba Medinipur, Tajpur beach is another tourist destination which is near to Digha. Shankarpur, located around 14 km east of Digha, is known as a regular fishing harbour. Udaipur, another spectacular beach near Digha shares its border with West Bengal and Odisha.

Coastal trek and bike riding across the coastline are some of the popular activities which make this sea beaches as one of the best tourist destinations in West Bengal. Marine Aquarium and Regional Center situated at Digha is a popular tourist spot. This research center shows the marine biodiversity of the region and carries out important research work. One can spot sea anemones, rays, lobsters, crabs, and even sharks in the center's humungous tanks. One can avail Digha Ropeway to get a panoramic view of the entire region. By Train: Three trains run daily from Howrah Railway Station, such as Tamralipta Express, Duranto Express, and Kandari Express. Sometimes special trains are announced on special occasions and holidays.
