The Zamindars of Murshidabad, the Dudhoria family shifted from Rajasthan to Azimganj and started their business in Murshidabad. The Bari Kothi was built in the late 1700s. The name of the house, Bari Kothi (literally meaning the Palace of the Elder), was coined in the late 1800s since it was the house of the elder (bari) brother, Rai Bahadur Budh Sing Dudhoria, a significant member of the Shehrwali community. After being locked down for half a century, the brother-sister duo Darshan Dudhoria & Lipika Dudhoria restored Bari Kothi which is located on the banks of the River Ganges in Murshidabad.
Bari Kothi has been transformed into a heritage resort which takes 4 hours from Kolkata. Bari Kothi is a zero-waste project and adheres to the sustainability goal. Its huge and luxurious rooms are sure to offer regal experience to its visitors. The High tea on Ganges, Heritage walk, Textile tour and Pottery session provide some unique experiences to visitors which they can cherish for the rest of their lives.
