This city has been named Venice of the East. Udaipur, the city of lakes, is surrounded by the Aravalli hills. The famous Lake Palace is situated in the middle of Pichola Lake, which is one of the most beautiful places in Udaipur. Its beauty is famous all over the world. This city was founded in 1553 AD by Maharana Udai Singh II, which was declared the capital of the Mewar state. It is located in the winding hills and Girwa valley southwest of Nagda. Surrounded by blue lakes, Aravalli hills and lush green forests, the city of Udaipur is a magnificent tourist destination. Here, in the middle of Pichola Lake, looks like a pearl in an oyster - Lake Palace, which is one of the most famous places here. Asia's second largest, man-made freshwater Jaisamand Lake is also in Udaipur district. The magnificent City Palace and Sajjangarh Palace are excellent examples of architecture. Udaipur also has mines of marble and zinc.
